We hope your January has started productively and successfully! We are coming to an end of delivering our Architects into the Art Dept and Set Decorating courses. Over the last 3 months, we have helped 34 architects learn about how the film and tv drama industries work and what they need to do to make the move into the art department. We have covered the different job roles, how they teams collaborate, software, etiquette and CVs. They will hopefully be in touch with Supervising Art Directors soon – some will also be offered paid placements on features that are paying into the Film Skills Fund.
The Set Decorators course finishes next week, when Alice Felton will be looking at how to liaise with Heads of Department and manage a happy, productive team. Some of this group will also be offered paid shadowing opportunities on UK feature films. There will be more courses for established freelancers coming in Spring.
