NEGOTIATING & MANAGING CONFLICT
TUESDAY 8th FEBRUARY
This session was supported by ScreenSkills using National Lottery funds awarded by the BFI as part of the Future Film Skills programme.
Negotiating skills have become an integral part of working in the art department, whether it is negotiating pay, working hours or managing conflict within a team. These skills are critical for day to day interactions, effective teamwork, resolving challenges and agreeing employment conditions. In this TP Industry Sessions, we talked to Sara Putt, MD of Sara Putt Associates, about how to negotiate successfully and create productive environments. Sara is a highly established agent for HoD grades in production with over 30 years of industry experience. She is the Deputy Chair of Bafta, a board member of the British Film Commission, deputy Chair of Women in Film and Television and is a trustee of the Film and TV Charity. In the Session we examinined:
What successful negotiation looks like
How to overcome our fear of ‘having the conversation’
How to frame the discussion to your advantage
How to acknowledge and manage conflict at work
How to work to find resolution for both parties
This session was part of the TP Art Directing programme and is suitable for Production Designers, Supervising Art Directors, Art Directors and other established art department grades. Participants need to have at least 2 feature film or HETV drama production credits.
