STANDBY ART DIRECTING

SATURDAY 10TH APRIL 2021

Standby Art Director is a role where there are few opportunities to ‘watch and learn’ under guidance and yet the demands of the job are high and visible. This Session focused on the elements required to be an effective and successful Stand By Art Director on feature films and High End TV dramas. Laura Ng. has over 18 years of experience in the art department, with credits including 1917, Chernobyl, Mary Poppins Returns and Line of Duty. She discussed the role and responsibilities of a Standby Art Director, required skills, knowledge and entry routes for the role, script breakdown and paperwork, effective communication and diplomacy, set etiquette and working across different budget ranges.
