You may not need to create a technical drawing in your role, but you will probably need to know how to read one. And if you don’t know, it can be quite intimidating.
This course is for anyone looking to learn more about how drawings are created, what they communicate and how to find the information they need.
-
Throughout this in person workshop we will be:
understanding how drawings are prepared and what they communicate
learning where and how to obtain the information you need from a technical drawing
learning how to engage with the Art Directors preparing the drawings
learning how to fold a drawing properly!
The workshop also provides a rare chance to look at a wide variety of different budget drawings and see how different Art Directors design their sets.
-
This workshop is delivered for up to 12 people at our offices in Brighton
It runs from 09:30 - 13:00 and gives a rare opportunity to learn alongside Rod McLean, an experienced and established Senior Art Director. His recent credits include Avengers, Jay Kelly, Wicked.
It’s a great chance to ask all the questions you were too self conscious to ask about drawings and examine how the Art Department collaborates with other departments to build and dress the sets.
This session costs £60 +vat. It is eligible for a ScreenSkills bursary - the application process takes up to 4 weeks and we require payment ahead of the session.

“It was a way more thorough exploration into the department than I expected - so many different job roles! - and it was fantastic to hear and learn about everything alongside some great advice.”
